Introduction and History - Liverpool Airport
(Liverpool John Lennon Airport) is based southeast of the city of Liverpool
supporting over 1.5 million passengers per annum flying to destinations across
the UK and Europe. During WW1 hoton park was used by the army for training, In
1919, the Royal Flying Corps were stationed at the aerodrome. In 1930 the
official Liverpool was born as it commenced commercial passenger services. The
new terminal building was built in 1939. In 1966 a new runway was opened by
the Duke of Edinburgh. In 1986 the new passenger terminal was built. Liverpool
airport is located about twenty minutes from the city centre of Liverpool,
close to the M57. It site on the A561 south of the centre.
Facilities - The main airport facilities are on the
ground floor of the terminal building. They include a restaurant and lounge
area on the first floor. There are numerous Travelex shops inside the terminal
providing money exchange service to all the countries served from Liverpool
John Lennon Airport. In addition, travellers cheques and money sending abroad
services are available.. Facilities include low level phones, wheelchairs,
induction loop system and dedicated parking spaces.. .

the A561 and follow signs to the airport. From M56 go over the river at
Runcorn on A557 to A561 signs to the airport. From the North take M6 south to
J21A to M62 J6 to A5300 to A561 and follow the signs. . The main train
connections are as follows: Liverpool airport is served by Garston and Hunts
Cross local and regional train stations.. To reach the airport by taxi The are
black cabs leaving from the airport going into the city centre.. To use either
bus or coach to get there Bus' depart from outside the Airport terminal
