Introduction and History - Humberside Airport is a
rapidly growing UK airport based in the northeast area of England. It provides
scheduled domestic and European flights. The airport started life in 1941 as a
Royal Air Force base, (Kirmington) durinf WW2. After the war, the base as
abandoned until in 1974 the local council opened the site as Kirmington
Airport. Following regional boundary and name changes by local government, the
site became known as Humberside Airport. The airport is ten miles west of
Grimsby and 15 miles south of Kingston Upon Hull, England on the A18
