Introduction and History
Edinburgh airport it's Scotland's central airport with domestic connections, European connections and Atlantic connections, serving over 80 destinations and taking over 7 million passengers a year. You will need a passport to travel from Edinburgh airport. The airport was originally known as the turnouse aerodrome back in 1915 like the Royal Flying corps. It provided a base for the RAF during that First World War. In 1947 a shuttle service began from London to Edinburgh. in 1960 British airport a authority took over control of the airport for general public use. Recent upgrade and renovation work on the terminal building and runways has boosted passenger numbers significantly. The airport is located about 9 miles west of Edinburgh city.

Road: Edinburgh take the A8 from the city bypass.
Train: Waverly train station in Edinburgh city centre is access via either taxi or bus.
Taxi:
Taxis can be obtained outside Domestic Arrivals next to the coach park - they go to the centre of Edinburgh taking about 25 minutes.
Bus or Coach: The number 100 express bus goes to Edinburgh city centre. The information desk in International arrivals ells tickets. It takes 25 minutes and goes every 10 minutes. It leaves from uk arrivals doors in the forecourt.
