&lt;b&gt;Introduction and History &lt;/b&gt;- London City airport is based in the very heart if London, close to the financial City district. Flights connect to other UK airports and select European destinations. Local bus services and the Docklands light railway connect Docklands routes to London City airport.   In 1981 the outline proposal submitted to the London Docklands Development Corporation (LDDC) to build new airport. In 1983 a application for planning permission was submitted. In 1983 the Port of London Authority leased out land in Royal Docks area. In 1984 SOS (Secretary of State) suggest positive to planning application. Permission finally given in 1986. Work begins following foundation stone ceremony by Prince Charles. &lt;br&gt;
In 1987 the Queen opened London City airport. In 1992, European jet flights approved. In 1994 traffic numbers double from previous year with new routes to Dublin. In 2003 BA opens flights to Paris, Geneva and Frankfurt. In 2005 the airport wins prize for best corporate aviation passenger handling facilities in Europe.   The airport is located 6 miles from the City of London and about ten miles from the West End.&lt;br&gt;

&lt;b&gt;Introduction&lt;/b&gt; - The airports facilities include a bank, ATM&apos;S, bureaux de change, left luggage, lost property service, coin-operated, card and phonecard phones and a shoeshine service. Check in is located on the ground floor of the terminal. Check in is 20 minutes before departure. .  &lt;br&gt;

&lt;b&gt;Food: &lt;/b&gt;The Meridian Line fin dining restaurant is located in the terminal on the 1st floor of the terminal, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. It provides dining for one hundred and ten guests. Coffee Corner Wine and Tapas Bar serves hot and cold Tapas, refreshments and snacks. In the departure lounge, Trattoria serves seafood and pasta. March&amp;#233; Frais sells snacks and hot and cold drinks such as salads, baguettes and pastries. Bewleys caf&amp;#233; coffee shop serves light snacks, hot and cold drinks and alcoholic beverages.   &lt;br&gt;

&lt;b&gt;Shops:&lt;/b&gt; The shops in London City airport are as follows:- World News (selling magazines, newspapers, books, greetings cards, pharmaceutical items, camera film, tourist gifts and confectionery); Bally (selling crafted shoes, accessories and apparel); Bewleys (selling coffees, teas, chocolates and confectionary); Hughes and Hughes Bookshop (selling a wide books); Nuance Travel Shopping (for the Duty and Tax Free items such as Hugo Boss; Ted Baker; Mont Blanc Pens and Watches).  &lt;br&gt;

&lt;b&gt;Currency Exchange: &lt;/b&gt;The 2 ATM&apos;s (Barclays and Abbey National) in the airport are located on the ground floor acepting credit and debit and Switch cards.  &lt;br&gt;

Disabled Facilities:&lt;/b&gt; Disabled facilities include aircraft boarding assistance, adapted shuttle buses and dedicated car parking spaces. &lt;br&gt;

&lt;b&gt;Business Travellers&lt;/b&gt; - The business facilities at the airport include the air conditioned and sound proofed Meridian Business Centre. It is situated on the 1st floor in the terminal building. The facility is designed for meetings, conference or training requirements. There are private rooms and audio visual equipment nd a conference suite. &lt;br&gt;

&lt;b&gt;Road: &lt;/b&gt;London City Airport is situated 6 miles east of the City of London about 15 minutes drive from Tower Bridge.     &lt;br&gt;

&lt;b&gt;Train:&lt;/b&gt; Canning Town tube on the Jubilee line provides access to the heart of London. From the tube there ia a regular shuttle bus to the airport.  &lt;br&gt;

&lt;b&gt;Taxi&lt;/b&gt;: The black taxi cabs are available in the licensed taxi rank outside the terminal building.  &lt;br&gt;

&lt;b&gt;Bus or Coach&lt;/b&gt;: For Silvertown, Canning Town, Stratford, Leytonstone and Walthamstow (bus 69) departing every 10 minutes. For Stratford, Silvertown, North Woolwich, and Prince Regent Station (473). For Canning Town, North Woolwich and East Beckton (474).   &lt;br&gt;
