By 1971, the runway was extended for wide bodied aircraft. A 750ft Runway extension continued in 1986, leading to US and Canadaian 747 charter flights. Soon after the main British Airways engineering and maintenance facility was built. In the 1990&apos;s Manx Airlines provided daily European services. By 1992, passenger traffic was over sveven hundred and fourty thousand a year. In 1993 modernisation and building expansion projects helped to boost traffic numbers. In April 1995 TBI plc bought the shares of the airport.  Cardiff international Airport is situated in Rhoose, 12 miles west of Cardiff City Centre and 10 miles from Junction 33 on the M4.&lt;br&gt;

&lt;b&gt;Currency Exchange&lt;/b&gt;: A Travelex bureau de change is located on the 1st floor providing major currencies, travellers cheques, phonecards and travel insurance. There is a There is a cash point machine (HSBC) in the check in hall.  &lt;br&gt;

&lt;b&gt;Bus or Coach:&lt;/b&gt; The Airbus Xpress bus service (X91) goes between Cardiff City Centre and the airport. The 146 EST bus goes hourly between Barry and the airport. The X5 First bus service goes from Llantwit Major to the airport via Barry, every 2 hours. The National Express Coach Service operates regular direct services to Cardiff Central Bus Station. &lt;br&gt;
